Teams & Land Claims
Keyfall utilizes a custom, silent anti-griefing system called UnseenClaims. Unlike traditional land-claim systems that require visible, immersion-breaking borders or golden shovels, this system protects player-placed blocks implicitly, maintaining the natural look and feel of the world.
Interaction Notice
While the commands listed below show the raw /team syntax, you can easily access these menus using the roleplay /me or /char commands to manage your team immersively.
Team Management System
When you first join the server, you are placed in a solo team. To share building and interaction permissions, you must form teams.
/team invite <player>
Invites another player to join your team. Invites expire after 60 seconds.
/team accept [leader]
Accepts a pending invitation to join a team.
/team kick <player>
Removes a member or manager. Only the leader can kick managers.
/team promote <player> / /team demote <player>
Grants or removes Manager permissions (allowing them to invite/kick regular members).
/team disband / /team leave
Disbands the team or leaves it. Block ownership reverts to individual builders upon disbanding.
/team claimleadership
If a team leader has been offline for 14 consecutive days, any active member can run this to take ownership of the team and all its claims.
Anti-Griefing Protections
Silent Protection
Every block placed by a team member is registered. Outsiders cannot break these blocks. Naturally generated blocks (ores, logs, dirt) are never claimed and can be mined freely.
Block-Against Protection
Outsiders cannot place blocks directly against the faces of your claimed blocks, preventing players from blocking your doors, covering your walls, or placing lava touching your build.
Interaction Lockout
Outsiders cannot strip logs, till dirt, flatten paths, or interact with containers, furnaces, or switches (buttons/levers) inside your territory.
Base Buffer Zones
Outsiders are blocked from placing blocks within a 1-chunk radius (3x3 chunk grid) surrounding any active team claim, preventing “claim-camping.”
Liquid & Piston Defense
Liquid flowing from an outsider's block or natural source cannot flow over claimed blocks (protecting redstone and crops).
Pistons placed by outsiders cannot push or pull your blocks, nor can they push natural blocks into a chunk containing your active claims.
Advanced Explosion & Lava Cast Prevention
Explosion Tracing
Primed TNT inherits the owner's metadata. TNT will damage natural blocks normally, and it will damage blocks owned by your own team (allowing for auto-crafters or traps). However, it will do zero damage to blocks owned by other active teams.
Lava Cast Heuristics
When water and lava collide, the server traces upward. If the vertical distance from the collision to the source exceeds 3 blocks, the cobblestone/obsidian formation is cancelled. Vanilla cobble generators work perfectly, but towering lava-casts are impossible to create.
Presence & Decay System
To free up abandoned territory, claims decay over time. Decayed claims are not deleted, they simply lose their protection and can be broken or claimed by anyone.
- Chunk Inactivity Decay (3 Days): If no team member enters or modifies a specific chunk for 3 consecutive days, that chunk decays.
- Team Offline Decay (5 Days): If all members of a team remain offline for 5 consecutive days, the team's entire claim protection decays globally.
- Instant Revival: If a team member logs back in or crosses into a decayed chunk boundary, protection is instantly revived for a 3-chunk radius (7x7 grid) around the player.
Team-Based PvP
PvP is disabled globally on the server except between team members (friendly PvP is allowed by default so you can duel your friends or test mechanics). The server strictly prevents outsider PvP via melee, projectiles, wind charges, primed TNT tracking, and End Crystal explosion tracking.
